Solo

他才来过一次。
Tā cái láiguò yīcì.
He's only been here once before.

现在才五点，太早了。
It's only five o'clock - it's too early.

我们一共才有500块钱，完全不够。 

你给他三个，你才给我两个！
You gave him three, you only gave me two!

When using “才” in this way, the addition of “才” can be positive or negative. In the above example, the speaker is clearly unhappy about having received one less. However, “才” can also have a positive connotation, if having a smaller number is a good thing, as in this shopping example:
 

才三块钱一条，真便宜！
Cái sān kuài qián yī tiáo, zhēn pián yi
Only three dollars per pair, so cheap! 

我才拿到一个苹果

他才学中文半年

你今年几岁？我十八岁。才十八岁？好年轻啊！

También se puede usar para condiciones:

只有假日才能去找朋友

Solo puedes ver a tus amigos en los día de descanso

因为他，我才去的

Solo fui por él 

要满十八岁才能喝酒

Debes ser mayor de 18 años para tomar alcohol

Más tarde de lo que pensaba

才 se agrega inmediatamente después del tiempo (ahora, mañana, ayer, etc)

你怎么现在才来？

他花了一年才看完那本书 

我花了十年才把日语学好

我平常6点起床，但是今天我9点才起床

我们十点上课，可是她十一点才来。

Wǒmen shí diǎn shàngkè, kěshì tā shíyī diǎn cái lái.
We start class at 10, but she didn't arrive until 11.

他明天才走。

Tā míngtiān cái zǒu.
He's not leaving until tomorrow.

你怎么现在才来？

Nǐ zěnme xiànzài cái lái?
How come you've only just got here?

你做完作业才可以出去。

 You can't go out until you've finished your homework.

Always remember that when using 才 to talk about timings, you don't use 了. The two characters 才 and 了 don't generally play well together; it's one or the other.

 我昨天十一点才下班！ 

今天堵车，我坐车坐了一个小时才到公司

Acabo de

我才下班。
I just got off work.

我才接到他的电话。
Wǒ cái jiēdàole tā de diànhuà.
I just got his call.

我才看到你的email

我才接到你的信息。
Wǒ cái jiē dào nǐ de xìnxī
I got your message just now  

When you are using “才” in this instance, you are implying that you should have replied earlier, but you haven’t because you only received the message a moment ago. When it is used like this, you can substitute “刚刚 （gāng gang), which also means “just now”, for “才”.

我才出门，就下雨了

Acabo de salir y comenzó a llover

Puedes combinar 才 con 刚刚

他刚刚才走

Él acaba de irse

我今天才知道，他很喜欢中国菜

Recién hoy me acabo de enterar que a él le gusta mucho la comida china.

Se suele usar junto a 呢. Se usa entre amigos. También lo usan los niños.

我才不会呢！
Wǒ cái bù huì ne!
I'd never do that!

我才不吃这么恶心的东西呢！

Wǒ cái bù chī zhème ěxīn de dōngxi ne!
There's no way I'm eating something so disgusting!

我才不吃呢！

No voy a comer

我才不要呢！
Wǒ cái bùyào ne!
Absolutely not!

你才笨呢！
Nǐ cái bèn ne!
Are you stupid or what?! 

她才不漂亮

Ella no es bonita (no tienes razón, estás equivocado)

Usos de 就 y 才

西西：今天是星期天，我十点才起床，你呢？
王小宝：我今天要去图书馆，七点就起床了。
西西：图书馆离你家远吗？
王小宝：很远，坐地铁一个小时才能到。
西西：哦，真的很远。图书馆离我家不远，骑车十五分钟就到了。
王小宝：啊，太方便了！
